Step 01 · 2 to 3-Year Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)
Bachelor's and Master’s by coursework graduates
receive a 2-year open work visa (extended to 3 years for Master’s by research or PhDs).
Regional university graduates qualify for an additional 1-2 years extension.
Step 02 · Points-Based Skilled Migration
Australia operates a point-tested SkillSelect system
(Subclass 189/190). Points are calculated based on your age, English score (PTE/IELTS),
Australian degree, and local work experience. You need a minimum of 65 points to apply,
though high-demand fields require higher competitive thresholds.
Step 03 · The Subclass 491 (Regional Pathway)
A major state-sponsored route where living and
working in regional Australia for 3 years opens a guaranteed gateway to permanent
residency via the Subclass 191 visa.
Keep in mind that applying for a PGWP now requires proof of
language proficiency (CLB 7 for degree grads; CLB 5 for college diploma grads), and college
diploma tracks must align directly with Canada’s national labor-shortage occupation lists.
